The staff of the Job Accommodation Network (JAN) was shocked and saddened by the horrifying events of September 11, 2001. The JAN staff would like to express our condolences to everyone who lost loved ones in the terrorist attacks. Along with the rest of the nation, we share the frustration and grief that arise from such senseless acts. JAN joins the rest of America in an effort to rebuild our communities and continue our work. Since the time of the attacks, JAN's consultants have seen an increase in questions related to the emergency evacuation of people with disabilities. To help meet these needs, JAN consultants compiled resources to provide clear and concise information on the subject. We hope that you find this information useful in planning, establishing, and implementing emergency evacuation procedures. The JAN staff offers this publication as a way to begin to rebuild all that this national tragedy has destroyed.
